Embrittlement & Stress Relief Baking

Baking is a vital step in ensuring the safety and lifetime of parts. Hydrogen exposure causes steel and other various metals to become brittle and fracture over time. During machining parts may also experience extra stress buildup within the bonds of the metals. Baking the parts serves to redistribute or allow the hydrogen to leave the parts and also relieve stress caused by machining. This strengthens the part while aiding in the longevity and safety of the parts. Baking can be done prior to or after plating, depending on the specified requirements. We have four ovens all calibrated to meet required approvals. Our ovens can reach up to 1000°F (537.8°C). Meets all AMS-2750 requirements along with customer approval requirements.
